We're coming to Brum.

Me: “Hi mate, is this Birmingham?”
Birmingham: “Yeah.”
Me: “Lovely. I’m here to emotionally destabilise your residents.”
Birmingham: “…You what?”
Me: “Don’t worry. We brought hats.”

…and that’s how Uncle Matt’s Chats ended up in Birmingham.

For the first time, we’re taking the event outside of London.

We can’t wait to experience a city where buying a round doesn’t require short-term financial planning.

We’re packing up the feelings, throwing them in the back, and driving them two hours up the M40 to see what the Midlands are made of.

Word on the street is you lot actually talk to each other.

Same premise as always: real people, honest stories, free food, a free drink, and conversations that normally only happen at 1am in someone’s kitchen.

Yes, it’s a mental health event.
Yes, it’s still run by a hat brand.
Yes, it’s happening in a bar.

Arguably the most emotionally appropriate venue so far.

  • Four Speakers

Four very different lives. One shared goal: making it easier for everyone else in the room to talk.

  • FREE Drink

One on us. Purecraft’s finest. Everything after that is between you and your conscience.

  • FREE Food

Because no good conversation ever started on an empty stomach.

  • Actual Talk

No therapy. No seminar. No one will point at you and make you explain your childhood. Just people. Talking. Honestly.

  • Steve Willicott

Founder of Uncle Matt’s Hats, brother of the original Uncle Matt, and a man who turned losing his brother into something that’s helped thousands of people open up. He’ll be talking about grief, purpose, and how something as small as a cap can start conversations that actually matter.

  • Russell Payne

Host of the Talking Tradesman Podcast and speaker from our very first Uncle Matt’s Chats. Russell brings the kind of honesty you don’t hear enough of - especially in places where people are expected to just crack on and keep quiet.

  • PJ Ellis

Known to many from Big Brother, PJ became recognised for being unapologetically himself in an environment designed to do the opposite. Since then, he’s continued speaking openly about mental health, identity, and the reality of figuring yourself out both in public and in private.

  • Adam Pearce

Shopify expert, entrepreneur, and someone who works closely with founders and growing businesses. Adam understands the pressure, uncertainty, and mental load that comes with building something from nothing - and the toll that can quietly take if you don’t talk about it.

The theme, as always

Prevention, not intervention.

There are incredible organisations doing life-saving work when people reach crisis point.

What we’re trying to do is reach people earlier.
Start conversations sooner.
Make it normal to say “I’m not alright” before things reach that stage.

This isn’t therapy.
It’s not a seminar.
No one’s going to point at you and make you explain your childhood.

It’s just people. Talking. Honestly.
Come for the free food.
Stay because something resonates.

Leave knowing you’re not the only one winging it.

Uncle Matt’s Chats - now officially on tour.
