If you need another reason to come along to our next event (other than the free food), have a look at what we’ve been up to below.
Uncle Matt's Chats x Brum
Uncle Matt’s Chats came to Brum! We were lucky enough to be joined by the wonderful PJ Ellis, Russell Payne and Adam Pearce, who all spoke openly about their own experiences with mental health, the good bits, the difficult bits and plenty in between.
As always, the idea was simple: get good people in a room, make talking about mental health feel a little less awkward, and see what happens.
No therapy. No seminars. No awkward trust exercises. Just honest stories, proper conversations and a room full of people willing to talk and listen.
Not bad for a night in Brum.
Uncle Matt’s Chats x Barclays
Uncle Matt’s Chats stole some event space at Barclays Bank in Moorgate.
Richard Pearce, VP at Barclays, spoke openly about his own experiences with mental health, proving that talking about how you’re actually doing in the corporate world is, in fact, totally allowed.
We were also joined by Jake Mills, founder of Chasing the Stigma, who talked about why prevention matters and why we need to get better at having conversations about mental health before everything goes completely wrong.
Uncle Matt’s Chats x Lucky Saint
Uncle Matt’s Chats was back, this time at the Lucky Saint pub, where we somehow managed to pack the room with 50 legends.
Will Castle shared his brilliant and incredibly personal film Heirlooms, opening up a conversation about grief, loss and the things we carry with us.
Louis Watkins also joined us to speak openly about his own experiences with mental health, sharing his story with honesty and humour.
There was FREE food, FREE drink and FREE sarcasm, all served with a mental health twist.
Good people. Good beer. Honest conversations about mental health.
Uncle Matt’s Chats x London
We took over The Chapel and Speakeasy in Holborn.
A room full of humans showed up to talk about mental health, grief and why putting hats in ice cream tubs isn’t just a weird marketing gimmick.
We had an unreal line-up: Russell Payne from the Talking Tradesman Podcast, Louis Strong from the Head Strong Podcast, Dan Newman from Baldilocks, Dan Shrigley from Shoulder to Shoulder and the wonderful Rich Evans.
They each spoke openly about their own experiences, sharing the good bits, the difficult bits and the stuff we probably don’t talk about enough.
Turns out a room full of strangers talking about their feelings isn’t as terrifying as it sounds.
