Uncle Matt's Chats x Barclays - 9th Oct, London

The One Where We Take Over a Bank!
Me: “This is a stick-up!”
Barclays Teller: “You’re holding a baseball cap.”
Me: “Yes, and I’m here to steal your… event space.”
Barclays Teller: “…Alright?”
...and that’s how we ended up hosting a mental health event at Barclays Moorgate.
From Chapels to Pubs… to Banks
After hijacking a chapel and a pub, we’ve levelled up — Uncle Matt’s Chats is now taking over a bank.
But don’t worry, instead of stealing cash, we’re handing out ideas.
- Ideas about spotting the signs early
- Ideas about talking before things hit crisis point
- Ideas about how to stop pretending you’re “fine” when you’re very much not fine.
Expect Sarcasm, Snacks, and Serious Chats
There’ll be food. There’ll be drink.
There might even be a group mortgage application (only if it happens naturally and nobody makes it weird).
If you like your mental health events served with sarcasm — and your hats served in ice cream tubs — this one’s for you.
Who’s Talking
We’ve got a brilliant line-up ready to share their stories and spark some conversations:
- Steve Willicott – The guy who accidentally turned grief into a hat brand and is now somehow running mental health events.
- Richard Pearce – A real-life Barclays VP, proving that talking about mental health is actually allowed in corporate land.
- Jake Mills – Founder of Chasing the Stigma, joining for a fireside chat on why prevention always beats waiting until everything goes completely wrong.
